In short

## Which languages can SalamAI translate?

Updated 30 October 2026

SalamAI’s main option, Voice and subtitles - Model A (Google), speaks the translation aloud with live subtitles in 70+ languages, listed as 78 language, script and regional codes such as Chinese scripts and Portuguese variants. That includes Bahasa Melayu, English, Mandarin Chinese, Tamil, Arabic and other Southeast Asian languages. Model B (Qwen) is an alternative voice engine with its own list, where your organisation has it. Subtitles only, Same-language captions and Transcribe only also use Model A. Interface languages are separate: the console has three and public pages have 37. Accuracy varies with accent, dialect and audio quality, so test your exact language pair before an event.

### How should you test a language pair?

Test the exact option you plan to use, because each translation type, and transcription speech recognition, has its own coverage. Use your real speaker and microphone, not a recording from another room. Read a short passage with the names, places, numbers and specialist terms your event will use, then listen to the translated audio on a phone and read the captions. Repeat for each output language, and ask a native speaker to check the result. Accents, dialects and fast speech affect accuracy, so if a pair struggles, consider captions, a slower speaking pace or a qualified interpreter for that language.

Common questions

## Language support questions

### Does SalamAI support Arabic, Malay and Mandarin Chinese?

Yes. Arabic, Malay (Bahasa Melayu), Mandarin Chinese and English are all spoken aloud with live subtitles in Voice and subtitles - Model A (Google). Test your language pair with your own speakers first. This does not guarantee equal accuracy for every accent or dialect.

### Are interface languages the same as translation languages?

No. An interface language changes menus and buttons. A translation language changes the speech or captions people receive. SalamAI has three console interface languages and 37 public interface languages.

### Why does the list show 78 entries but say 70+ languages?

Some entries are script or regional versions of a language, such as Chinese scripts and Portuguese variants. The 78 entries are not 78 separate languages.

### Does every translation type support all listed languages?

No. Voice and subtitles - Model A (Google) covers the 70+ languages listed here. Model B (Qwen), where your organisation has it, has its own shorter list, and Transcribe only has its own speech recognition choices. The console shows the languages for the type you pick.
