In short

## How does a remote speaker send audio for translation?

Updated 26 October 2026

Remote Speaker lets a presenter who is not in the room become the audio source for your session. The host gives them temporary sign-in details, or a short-lived, single-use Magic Login link or QR code where enabled, so no permanent account is needed. The presenter opens the page on a phone or browser and sees connection status, a microphone level, mute and reconnect controls. You then start translation from your console as usual and share it with the audience through Audience Companion links. Only one remote presenter can be active at a time; handing over to another presenter disconnects the previous device. Access expires after 24 hours by default.

### When should you use a remote speaker?

Use Remote Speaker when the person talking is not at the console: a guest presenting from another city, a speaker on a stage far from the control desk, or a panellist joining from home. Their phone or browser becomes the microphone for your session, while the host keeps control of languages, audience links and starting or stopping translation. Because only one remote presenter is active at a time, plan the order of speakers and hand over between them on purpose. Ask each presenter to use earphones with a microphone, sit somewhere quiet, keep the page open and check the level meter before their slot.

### What if the remote connection drops?

The presenter’s page shows connection status, a microphone level, mute and recovery controls, with reconnect guidance when the connection drops. Plan a fallback anyway: keep a local microphone ready at the console so the session can carry on with someone in the room if the presenter cannot reconnect quickly. Access expires after 24 hours by default, and removing access or changing credentials makes the old details invalid, so send fresh sign-in details if a presenter returns on another day.

### How does the presenter join?

The host creates temporary access for the presenter and shares it, either as sign-in details or, where enabled, as a short-lived Magic Login link or QR code that signs them in once. The presenter opens it in a phone or computer browser, allows the microphone and sees their connection status and level meter. They can mute themselves and use the recovery controls if the connection drops. The presenter does not choose the translation languages; the host still selects the session’s outputs in the console. The presenter’s page can use its own interface language, separate from the language being spoken or translated.

Connect the presenter

## Send live microphone audio to the console.

01

### Invite your speaker

Give the presenter temporary sign-in details. Where enabled, you can use a short-lived, single-use Magic Login link or QR code. The presenter does not need a permanent account. Access checks still apply.

02

### Check the connection

The presenter sees connection status, a microphone level, mute and recovery controls. Clear reconnect guidance helps restore the source when a connection drops.

03

### Start translation

Start translation from your host console. Pair with Companion Mode to send the translated audio to audience phones.

### One remote speaker at a time

Changing sign-in details or handing over to another presenter disconnects the previous device. Presenter access is temporary and separate from a team account.

Host controls

## Set access and check the audio.

01

### Adjust link expiry

Access expires after 24 hours by default. You can change or disable this expiry without changing the QR code. Removing access or changing credentials can still make it invalid.

02

### Check audio before starting

Use the presenter’s level meter, connection status and mute control to check readiness. Microphone and available shared-audio options depend on the browser.

03

### Set the presenter interface language

Public interface language is independent of the language being spoken or translated. The host still selects the session’s translation outputs.

Inside SalamAI

## Choose several translation languages.

Name the console, session and run, choose the translation type and audio device, then add more languages for other listeners.

Common questions

## Remote microphone questions

### Does the presenter need a full SalamAI account?

No. The host gives the presenter temporary access. Where enabled, a short-lived Magic Login link or QR code provides single-use sign-in. Normal access checks still apply.

### Can several remote presenters send audio at once?

Remote Speaker accepts one active presenter at a time. Changing credentials or handing over to another presenter disconnects the previous device.

### Can the audience listen to the remote presenter’s translation?

Yes. The host starts translation in the console and shares the output through Audience Companion. The presenter’s microphone is the source; the audience link carries the translation.
